3,2,1

Busy weekend with a happy ending.

This weekend was Youth Boulder 4, the last match in the National boulder league. I finished 3rd and was very happy with the result. Since this was the last match we also received medals for the overall ranking. Although I did not have a very strong season I still managed to finish second in the overall score.

Today were the finals of the klimmuur youth Boulder cup. It is a local league, also consisting of four matches. I competed in 3 of those which I all won. The 10 best climbers competed today in the semi-finals and the best 5 in the finals. I managed to flash all semifinal boulders and all final boulders which was good enough for the gold medal.

Today was a nice day, the boulders were not too hard but all very nice. Complements to the setters. I am happy with the first place but much prouder to have finished second in the overall ranking of the National league.

After two full weekends on plastic it is time to hit some real rock again. I am starting to feel a bit stronger so I am very excited to spend some time in Fontainebleau.

FB and DB.

This weekend will be a weekend on plastic.
Last night was DB9 the boulder comp of my local gym. The boulders were super cool and I managed to top 11 of the 14 problems. That was good enough for a 6th place, so I am a happy man. Tim of course topped all boulders. ”NIHIL-Irene” came all the way from Enschede to join DB9 and took the first place in the females.

Today I will compete in the local lead comp and Sunday the NKBV is organizing a lead simulation in Tilburg. The best youth climbers from the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxemburg will be present. I am very excited about this day.

Two weeks ago during Easter holiday I visited Fontainebleau for a couple of days. The weekend started with lots of rain so we decided to check out the new climbing gym in Fontainebleau which is called KARMA. Great boulders and the lead section of the gym looked pretty cool as well.

Sunday and Monday were beautiful days. We visited Marion des Roches. Since it was Easter we thought it would be cool to do l’ Oeuf de Paques. It is only 6b+ but I had no idea how to tackle the problem. Next to this problem on the same block is a 7a called les Mauvais Coups. I worked in this boulder but got stuck just before the top-out. The only problems mastered that day were a 6c+ on slopers which was quite nice but rather easy for the grade called la Boule and a couple of 6b's.

Easter weekend is always very crowded in FB. It was great to visit a not so well known area. It was completely deserted, no other climbers to be found. There are a number of nice boulders in Marion des Roches of which Pierrot is high on my wish list, so we will definitively return.

On Monday we went to Buthiers to meet up with NIHIL. They unfortunately had changed plans and went to another area. I tried a number of boulders but nothing difficult worked out the way I wanted it. The pictures below are from a boulder called la Rampe which is nice but presently too hard for me. I am still not very fit so no major problems were done this weekend but I had a great time.

Will be back in Bleau soon.
