I have spent part of my spring holiday in the Peak District
in the UK. I have been to the peak before but I was a lot younger and couldn’t
remember much about what bouldering in the peak was all about. Now that I am
back I just love it. Grit is great. The weather sucks but the friction is
superb. It is very cold for the time of year with lots of snow and rain but in
between showers the temperature is perfect.
I have done some pretty nice boulder problems. Below are
some pictures and a movie from my trip.
I am really happy that I managed to do Brass Monkeys. I had
done some 7C’s in South Africa but Brass Monkeys is my first 7C on the European
continent. Always nice to experience that 7C is not only possible in Rocklands.
The ultimate test is of course a 7C in the one and only real area
Fontainebleau. I will be there for the rest of the spring holiday after a short
stop to sample the Yorkshire grit.
